You are welcome to visit Walworth Cemetery at your convenience but please during daylight hours. Your cooperation in keeping the cemetery a place of honor and reverence for the deceased is essential and appreciated.
We ask that you report any problems to the Board members. Sometimes there are incidents when grave decorations become damaged during the course of our mission. We are sorry that this happens and want you to know that these incidents are not deliberate, nor do they show a lack of compassion for your deceased family members or friends.
We regret that we cannot guarantee the safeguarding of your grave decorations from damage or disappearance. We also regret that we cannot accept responsibility for damage or loss to your grave decorations or markers (monuments).
Please Note: Pets are not permitted.
Therefore, it is with deep respect for the love ones entrusted to our keeping that we ask you to read and observe the following regulations:
Growing Season
(April 1st through October 15)
Potted plants are permitted in 6” to 10” pots. Boxed plants are permitted in boxes that do not exceed 18”. Pots and boxes should be set on the lawn and not dug into the turf nor staked in place. Annual flowers may be planted in a flower bed. Beds may not exceed the length of the memorial not extend further than 10” in front. Families must provide regular care of the panting, which will be trimmed to ground level if the become unsightly. All plantings will be trimmed to the ground level in the fall. Artificial decorations that have become faded and worn will be removed. US Flags may be placed in the planters with the plants. Removal of withered fresh arrangements will be on an as needed basis or when violations are found at the discretion of the sexton. Removal of all arrangements in preparation for the Winter will be begin October 15th. All burials done in the Winter and early Spring will be either seeded or sodded when the ground permits it. Graves do not settle immediately. Our staff will go back to dress the greaves periodically.
Fall/Winter Season
(October 15 through March 31st
Christmas decorations may be either artificial or real, but no Christmas lights are permitted. Christmas wreaths must be set on stands or easels. All Winter decorations will be removed from the grave sites beginning March 15th, weather permitting. In case of severe weather, driveways will be cleared as soon as possible.
General Rules
1. Decorations are checked periodically and those that have become unsightly or do not conform to the rules will be removed.
2. Cemetery personnel reserve the right to remove any offensive items or those deemed detrimental to the area.
3. Anyone wishing to plant a tree or shrub must contact the Cemetery Board. These can only be planted in designated areas. They may not be planted in the burial area.
4. Each grave is allowed one full casket or two cremains OR one full casket and one cremains, and limited to only one marker. Size material and design of all monuments must meet Cemetery specifications.
5. A permanent marker must be installed within 9 months of burial.
6, All lots must be paid in full prior to interment unless other arrangements have been made. Price of grave sits at this printing are $900 which includes perpetual care.
7. Graves maybe opened (dug) for cremains only by authorized personnel of the cemetery so that state laws are followed concerning depth etc. No one else is allowed to dig for this purpose.
